The Cambs Scything Workgroup, which we set up and which helps us look after part of the Wellhouse Meadow in Haslingfield, is recruiting for more scythers! We're offering free pizza for our volunteers and those who sign up to either give it a go or just learn more about it on the day. Book your pizza by writing to Michelle at HnHEco@gmail.com.
Why Scything?
Great exercise - green gym!
Traditional way of looking after a meadow and making hay (which we are giving to locals who have livestock).
Sociable - we are a friendly bunch of all ages from 18 to 80.
See new places - the workgroup travels around Cambs helping those who want to look after nature - but you can choose just to volunteer at the Wellhouse meadow
Short sessions - usually 6 - 7.30 Sundays plus some weekday evenings in scything season (approximately April - Sept), on a come when you can basis.
