On the 5th of July we hosted a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing, a film based around the Westminster briefings given at the end of 2025 by 10 UK experts on topics including food security, health, national security, nature, and the economics of the energy transition. Nearly 100 people were in attendance at our screening, including our MP, Pippa Heylings. The film lays out the effects of climate change on the UK that are happening now, what we can expect in the future, and how we can be part of the addressing the challenge, both to reducing emissions (mitigation) and to preparing for the impacts we now can’t avoid (adaptation).
As a follow up, we are convening this meeting at Wisbey’s Yard Community Centre. Specifically for people who have seen the film, in Haslingfield or elsewhere, OR the full briefings which are available here on YouTube, it is also open to anyone who is aware and informed about the multi-pronged crisis and doesn’t want to take it lying down. We will start from the premise that there are things we can do, share stories of communities which are doing it, share and support each other with our feelings about the crisis, and look toward actions we can take together.
